Sezane Leontine and Bree Jumper Review

Now that I’ve more-or-less (slightly less…) got my pre-baby body back, I’ve been really looking forward to adding some updated pieces to my wardrobe. Having literally spent a few nights trying on every piece of item in my wardrobe, there is a growing pile of culled clothing to chuck, donate, or sell.

Things I’m getting rid of consists of anything that’s:

– outdated (low-rise pants, skin tight dresses, mini skirts)
– bad-fitting (too tight around the waistline, unflattering draping)
– damaged (ripped, stained, thinning fabric)

After assessing what’s left, I’m determined to rebuild with more classic, age-appropriate pieces. Starting with gaps in my wardrobe…..

I swear, every winter, I’m perplexed as to what I wore the prior year. My jumpers and cardigans seem to pull a disappearing act each time. In reality, they probably haven’t lasted and I’ve ended up discarding them somewhere along the way.

Coming across Sezane, a quintessential French label, I was immediately taken by their knits. Two of their best-sellers, the Léontine and Gaspard jumpers, are so popular they’re almost always low in stock.

It took me forever to order as I was still debating whether to get a size S or XS (supposedly they’re oversized and tend to run large). But one night, I came across the last size S in the Ecru/Camel Léontine (which is almost always out of stock!) and that’s what clinched the deal for me (thanks, FOMO!). I also loved their new Autumn 2022 Bree Jumper, so that went into my cart too.

Sizing & Fit

I’m generally an AU size 8 or S for most tops. Sometimes when things are oversized, I tend to size down so it doesn’t overwhelm my frame. I ordered both jumpers in size small, despite reading some comments saying they run large. I’m pretty satisfied this size was the fit for me.

Apart from their pattern and texture, the Léontine and Bree are essentially the same shape jumpers. The key differences being that the Bree has slightly longer sleeves and is more slim-fitting than the Léontine.

Quality & Details

As a pear-shaped girl, I’m in love with the marinere stripes of the Léontine, the chunky cable knit of the Bree, and the blouson sleeves on both! Along with the relaxed fit, I feel it helps balance out my bottom-heavy frame. I love wearing it with the front placket partially opened to elongate the neck and tucking in the front to give the look of a higher waistline.

Both jumpers are of 100% cotton (except for the strip of polyester backing along the back of the buttons for reinforcement), and the knit has a slightly stretchy, weighted feel. While it’s not soft to the touch, I felt no scratchiness or irritation when worn over bare skin. Additionally, both  jumpers retained heat quite well, so I can probably get away without an extra shirt or camisole underneath on warmer winter days.

Despite their similarities, both the Léontine and Bree are so classic they easily match other items in my wardrobe. Already have a bunch of new outfit ideas in mind, so these will definitely be my new cold-weather staples!
